Privacy policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information.

This policy explains how Northumberland Building ("we", "us") uses personal information collected through this website. We are the data controller for this information.

What we collect

  • Enquiries: when you use the quote or contact form we collect your name, phone number, email address, address, postcode, preferred contact method, the service you are interested in, your message and any photos or files you choose to send.
  • Testimonials: your name, town, rating, testimonial and (optionally) your email address so we can check the review is genuine. Your email is never published.
  • Website statistics: the pages you visit, the date and time, the website that referred you, your IP address, browser and device type, and an approximate country. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies for this.
  • Security logs: to protect the forms from spam we record the IP address and basic details of blocked submissions.

How we use it

We use enquiry details only to reply to you, arrange visits, prepare quotes and carry out work you ask for. This is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and for our legitimate interest in running the business. We use statistics to understand how the website is used and to keep it secure.

Who we share it with

Enquiries are emailed to our team and the people who handle enquiries for the business. We use a web hosting provider and an email provider to run the website. If you ask us to, we may share details with professionals working on your project, such as an architect or structural engineer. We never sell your information or pass it to marketing companies.

Maps and other services

Town pages can show a map from OpenStreetMap. The map only loads if you choose to show it; when it does, OpenStreetMap receives your IP address.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for up to 24 months if no work goes ahead. Where we carry out work, we keep records for up to 6 years for legal and accounting reasons. Website statistics are kept for up to 13 months. Spam logs are kept for 90 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it or ask us to restrict its use. Contact us using the details on our contact page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes

We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page.
